Fu-Dogs are a traditional, ancient symbol of protection and boundaries.
Technically, they are “Guardian Lions”, but have become known as “Fu-Dogs” in the west.
They are traditionally situated on either side of an entrance to a temple, a palace or a home. (Or sometimes an Art Museum)
The male lion, with his paw on the ball, represents the material plane of existence.
The female, with her paw on a cub, represents the spiritual plane of existence.
Between them, no foul spirit or person may enter a sacred space.
They are a common element in homes with a Traditional decor. These homes also tend to be decked out in blue and white.
The background is another Turing pattern, a theme I return to frequently.
I pictured these hanging on either side of an entrance to a special place, or adorning a fireplace.
Where would you hang them, if you knew they would protect your body and spirit?
